Care Guide
Care for every category
Choose a category to see exactly how to wash, condition and store your equipment so it performs season after season.
Horse Rugs & Coolers
Turnout rugs, stable rugs, coolers and exercise sheets — washed and re-proofed correctly, they last for many seasons.
Washing
Brush off loose dirt and hair first. Machine wash most Kentucky rugs at 30°C on a gentle cycle using a specialist technical wash (never standard detergent or fabric softener, which clog the fabric and strip waterproofing).
Re-proofing waterproof rugs
Waterproofing wears down with use and washing. Re-proof turnout rugs with a wash-in or spray-on technical proofer once water stops beading on the surface.
Drying
Air dry flat or over a rail away from direct heat. Never tumble dry — heat damages waterproof membranes, fillings and bindings.
Repairs & storage
Fix small tears promptly so they don't spread. Store fully clean and bone-dry in a breathable bag to prevent mould and odours.
